WHY? February 24.2019 Document the journey.

Who, what, why? This is why I started-

"This was my father 1966 Ford Galaxie 500XL. As a little boy we would always cruise to local towns, get a pop or ice cream & flip laps in the streets.
Over the years the ragtop roof decided to let go, my father never seen a need to replace it since we would always cruise when the sun was shining. One evening during a car show, a thunderstorm had sneaked up on us. Panicking to get back home (30 min drive) we jumped in and took off. It had be one of the most surreal moments of my life as a 6 year old boy; flying down the road with no roof in a complete down pour but we never had a single drop of rain land on us.
As I sat in the passenger seat with my eyes straight up into the sky, lightening bolts flying around us I couldn’t believe it. I thought my dad was a wizard for keeping us dry! Perfect combination of speed, wind and aerodynamics of that old galaxie kept us dry and made an everlasting imprint in my mind.
That old car had so many more stories, and amazing times that I’ll share in the future. It had been my fathers car that tragically had to be sold in the divorce. It killed my father to let that car go, it hurt me like hell, but it put a hunger in my body to save every rusty I could and fueled my passion for classics, muscle and hot rods.

This is driving memory lane. My name is Kelley, and I welcome you to follow along many trips down memory lane. Send a DM with your favorite memory and ride. I would love to share it with my friends, family and community!"

------

Fortune allowed me to buy back this car that summer after this first post for my father, and gift it to him.

As fate would play out, the car was peeled away from our hands once again. On October 26, 2020 that car burnt tragically in our shop fire that took away damn near everything but our spirits. Some things go, some things come, but it is what you make out of them.

Here's to more memories, more pictures, more smiles and even though I'm transitioning, pivoting into a different direction my goal still remains the same. To bring together, to never be alone, and to keep history alive in which ever way possible. Cheers to you my friend, cheers to you-
